Event Description

A Celebration of Black Dance is Chicago’s First Black Dance Festival and grassroots production that wishes to bring culture and performing arts to the inner city. Simultaneously, we strive to showcase Chicago’s professional black dance companies and artists, with the desire to bring hope and love back into the inner city community, as well as the black dance community. Our goal is to preserve and unite Chicago’s Black Dance Body in efforts to share our rich culture, traditions, experiences, vitality, and energy through dance and performance. This production seeks to demonstrate the important role that dance plays in celebrating people of African descent as creators, teachers, performers, sharers, and innovators in the arts.
