Event Description

Join Chicago Repertory Ballet for its annual spring engagement at the Biograph Theater March 13-15.  Performances will be Friday, March 13th at 8pm, Saturday March 14th at 2pm and 8pm, and Sunday March 15th at 2pm.  Showcasing pieces by contemporary choreographic voices, Bolero and Other Works will feature world premieres by Tenley Dorrill, Chicago dancemaker Kristina Isabelle and Artistic Director Wade Schaaf.

Winning CRB’s inaugural Choreography Competition, Dorrill’s new work explores the influences of French impressionism. Furthering the versatility of the CRB repertory, Isabelle pushes limits with her highly improvisational, process oriented creation. Founder and Artistic Director Wade Schaaf expands on CRB’s creative mission; he pays homage to the classics in his interpretation of “Bolero”.  His second offering delves into the avant-garde by integrating aspects of Butoh movement in a post apocalyptic world.

The performance will also feature Lucas Crandall’s “Lullaby”, a swirling sextet set to J.S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations and returning favorite "It's Not Enough to Close Your Eyes”, Jacqueline Stewart's A.W.A.R.D. show winning duet.

Children’s Matinee: Specifically for ages 6 and older, ticket prices will be reduced for Saturday afternoon’s condensed program. Children and their families are encouraged to dress up in their favorite ballet attire and take part in a festive parade and photos with the dancers of CRB.

Tickets for the performances are $25 for general admission and $20 for students/seniors.  Premium seating is available for $35.  The performance will be located at the Biograph Theater at 2433 N Lincoln Ave.  Tickets may be purchased online at victorygardens.org, by phone at 773.871.3000 or at the door prior to the performance.
