Event Description

At the end of April, the tap dancers of jorsTAP chicago will take the not so typical stage in the Fulton Market to premiere Gretel and Gretel: The Story of How Hansel Came to Be. A performance filled with tap dance, artistic collaboration, and a vibrantly creative atmosphere, the dancers invite you on this fairy tale journey through the woods.

jorsTAP chicago can’t wait to close out their fifth season of collaboration with artist David Lee Csicsko. The show will take place April 28-30 and May 5-7 at the Fulton Street Collective, 1821 W. Hubbard St, Chicago, IL  60622.

“Art helps them open their minds to possibility beyond what they have experienced in their lives,” Artistic Director Kendra Jorstad said. “With Gretel and Gretel, the combination of an old school folk tale with a current topic, transgender identity issues, showcases this story in an accessible, enjoyable way to families.”

jorsTAP creates art to evoke emotions and portray that tap dance is so much more than just footwork. They strive to captivate the audience and express the entirety of the stories that lie behind the art. jorsTAP Chicago is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was established in 2012 to disrupt the preconceived notions of tap dance.
