HER is a faith-based contemporary dance piece exposing the realities of overcoming an eating disorder and offering the hope of healing from mental illness.
Program Information
HER is a dance work retelling the intimate story of choreographer Faith von Atzigen and her battle with anorexia. The peice uses theatrical elements to display both the gradual subconscious decline of one’s mental health and the intense struggle for recovery. Following the common narrative of many who have struggled with anorexia, HER is a very authentic and vulnerable dramatizatipon that could provoke a visceral reaction from audiences with eating disorder history. Overall, the hope of this piece is to empathize with those who have struggled with negative body image, disordered eating, and societal pressures, and to offer them encouragement and restoration. This event promises to be a captivating and mesmerizing experience, showcasing an intriguing choreographic narrative and the beauty of Chicago dance artists. HER has a run time of 30 minutes and there will be a talk-back session with the cast and choreographer after the performance.

Seating
Doors will open 30 minutes prior to show and seating is on a first come first serve basis. The main entrance is near the performance area so please arrive on time before the doors close.
Parking
Free parking is available in the parking lot at the facility until full. Overflow validated $5 for 2 hour parking one block south at 1467 N Dayton. There is also paid street parking available on the surrounding streets.

Tickets: The Fasseas Whitebox does not possess a Performing Arts Venue license. As such, ticket revenue is a “suggested donation”. Patrons may not be turned away if they are unable or unwilling to pay. This policy is posted on the entrance to the theatre.
