Nomi Dance presents INSTRUMENTAL

Event Type
Performance
Event Description

Opening Nomi’s 9th season, Instrumental will showcase our creative and innovative talents from within. This show will premiere the works of the Nomi dancers and Artistic Staff. Staying true to Nomi’s mission that there is a unique connection in many genres of dance, we now delve into the beautiful marriage between music and dance.

“Every artist has an instrument that is
used to express their work:  a paintbrush, a voice, a pen, a creative
mind, etc.   A dancer expresses through movement, and a musician plays
their instrument.  What would happen if we explore the fusion of the
dancer’s body with a musician’s instrument?”

Nomi will open with an homage to the great classic composers of Bach, Vivaldi, etc., moving to an appointed instrument (violin, cello, viola, or piano), and/or being “played” by another cast member to heighten the total music experience!  The company then ventures into the modern era integrating instruments and music that are directly influenced by the classic composers. The company will fuse percussion, jazz piano, brass and a touch of electronic music.  The audience will witness the music come to life visually through the performer's body.
