Event Description
“Bebe Miller rearranges the spatial universe—with feeling.” -- The Star, Johannesburg, South Africa

“A must-see for any arts lover. The work I’ve seen this year that most successfully takes the temperature of our fractured, terrifying, bloodied moment.” Columbus Underground, Richard Sanford

In a Rhythm is a suite of new dance works based on the dynamics of adaptation and translation. Inspired by the writings of Gertrude Stein, Toni Morrison, and David Foster Wallace, whose voices capture diverse cultural relevancies through their structure of language, In a Rhythm looks at the syntax of movement. Following its world premiere at the Wexner Center in Columbus, Ohio, one reviewer raved, “Modern dance can be the most intimidating strain of contemporary art for the uninitiated. Bebe Miller’s masterful In a Rhythm serves as a perfect introduction for anyone who has yet to crack that language. More, this tight 75-minute piece does that without pandering, watering itself down, or neglecting the experienced eyes in the room.”

This presentation of In a Rhythm is part of the Dance Center's Process v. Product Festival, a two-week festival examining how concert dance presentation can be a document of process rather than a consumable product. The Process v. Product Festival (March 28–April 7) invites dance-makers, dance lovers, and other artists to reflect on the process of creation. Learn more here
