Event Description

Sheejith Krishna's "Don Quixote" showcases the rich traditions and arts of India, simultaneously extending their scope to engage varied audiences at home and abroad.

An idealistic dreamer sets out to revive the lost tradition of chivalry. Accompanied by his faithful friend Sancho Panza, Don Quixote has a series of fantastic adventures in his quest to save the world. Miguel Cervantes’ seventeenth-century novel spotlights the power of storytelling. It celebrates the extraordinariness of ordinary people coming together across differences and difficulties. Beauty and dignity emerge out of indignity and ugliness, as do conviction, passion, humour, and heart.

This production is the first adaptation of Cervantes's novel in the Bharatanatyam idiom, breaking new ground in uniting classical forms with contemporary elements in this cross-cultural work.
