Safety in Numbers

Safety in Numbers explores the Chicago-based backgrounds of individual company membersâ€™ ancestries and how experience affects personal movement tendencies. Tracking our families and our own experiences throughout Chicago, choreographers have discovered how relationships impact and are affected by city life. As we identified the differences between each of us as newcomers or natives, we noticed a common desire for comfort and familiarity whether through the anonymity of a large city or proximity to home. Safety in Numbers features choreography by Allyson Esposito, Anne Kasdorf, Maggie Koller, Leah Raffanti, Megan Schneeberger and Stacy Wolfson. The company also includes Larisa Eastman, Chloe Nisbett and Jessie Young. This program is a part of The Chicago Moving Company Performance Project. The Chicago Moving Company is an Arts Partner with the Chicago Park District in residence at Hamlin Park. TS/MP collaborated once again with Seattle-based musician Jeff Forrest to create a sound score for Safety in Numbers.
