Event Description

Ruth Page was daring, innovative and integral to the Chicago cultural landscape. The Ruth Page Center strives to honor her memory and continue her work. In 1932, Page, in collaboration with artist Isamu Noguchi, created an iconic solo titled “Expanding Universe.” This year, in celebration of their 50th anniversary, The Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N Dearborn St., is thrilled to welcome Chicago-based dancemaker Nejla Yatkin to reimagine this iconic work and set a new choreographic piece based on Page’s “Expanding Universe” on the Ruth Page Civic Ballet Training Company, to debut on Saturday, October 16th at 7 p.m and Sunday, October 17th at 3 p.m. This evening-length program also features new contemporary works from Rigo Saura and Nelson Reyes spotlighting dancers from the Ruth Page Civic Ballet Training Company and School of Dance. Saura’s work “Pink Nights Never End” is presented in collaboration with Chicago Dancemakers Forum, as part of the 2021 Production Residency Pilot Project. Tickets for the 2021 Fall Showcase “Expanding Universe” are $35 and are now available at www.ruthpage.org.
