Adult – Advanced Modern Class - Relax and Connect with Nelson Reyes

This class is based on release technique with influence from Reyes’ own personal style. The simple class format allows dancers to focus on stretching, while also honing in on their mind-body connection, integrating coordination among body halves and different parts of the body. The class will be an opportunity for dancers to find joy in their dancing within the framework of a training class.

Nelson Reyes was born in Holguin, Cuba. He studied and graduated from the National School of Art in Havana, Cuba and moved to the United States in 2002. Reyes is a former principal dancer and choreographer with such companies as Danza Contemporanea de Cuba, Codanza Contemporary Dance Company in Holguin, and Ashville Contemporary Dance Theatre in North Carolina. He has also danced with Hedwig Dances in Chicago, IL, The Chicago Lyric Opera, and Kinetic Works in Charlotte, NC. He currently works as a freelance choreographer and has worked as a former guest choreographer for Compañia de Ballet Concierto de Campeche and at Ballet Spartanburg in South Carolina. His teaching credits include Ashville Contemporary Dance Theatre, University of North Carolina Ashville, and Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, North Carolina. Throughout his career, Reyes has received numerous awards and honors for both performance and choreography.

Take the class in-person with a mask in our Studio I (cap of 23 dancers).
