Advanced / Professional level Modern / Contemporary with Rigo Saura.

This class will combine modern/contemporary and Cuban technique with high energy and composition fundamentals. Using elements of floor work, low-fly, neoclassic and Afro-Cuban technique dancers will discover new pathways and ways of moving.

Rigo Saura has been a guest instructor and choreographer at the Ruth Page School of Dance, and regularly works with the Training Company. He graduated from the National School of Modern and Contemporary Dance in Havana, Cuba, and is a former soloist dancer of Danza Contemporánea of Cuba and the National Ballet of Ecuador. Rigo served as Resident Choreographer in Ecuador’s Urban Ballet and Composition Master in the Metropolitan School of Art, Ecuador. Since moving to Chicago, he’s been part of Ruth Page Center of the Arts and guest artist/instructor for the Professional Program at Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. Currently, Rigo is a dancer, teacher, and choreographer with Hedwig Dances, Concert Dance Inc., Ruth Page Civic Ballet, and guest artist/instructor with Visceral Dance Chicago and Visceral Dance Center.

Take the class in-person with a mask in our Studio I (cap of 23 dancers).

Registration closes 3 hours in advance of in-person classes.


New this year - join us at the Ruth Page Center for the Arts for Advanced/Professional class with rotating guest artists, every Friday at 9am.

The class will feature rotating guest artists and combines with the Ruth Page Civic Ballet Training Company*. Method and technique will vary by teacher.

*The Ruth Page Civic Ballet Training Company is an elite group of pre-professional dancers, ages 17-25 who train daily, 9am-3:30pm, August – June at the Ruth Page School of Dance. The program provides continued comprehensive technique training, unique performance experiences, focused study with guest artists and choreographers, and travel to our International Sister Schools in Cuba, Italy and Spain.
