Event Description

BACK STORY is an intimate look at Artistic Director Kate O'Hanlon's journey as a dancer with scoliosis. The concept for this show began as a solo with movement vocabulary sourced from Kate's time in physical therapy and has grown to include choreographic works and personal experiences that have impacted her experience as a performer. A mix of repertory pieces and brand-new works developed in collaboration with company members Hannah Bailey, Patrick Justin, and Jessica Kick are featured in this livestream-only performance, premiering November 19 & 20, 2021 at 7:00pm, and November 21, 2021 at 3:00pm.

This project is partially supported by an Individual Artist Program Grant from the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs & Special Events, as well as a grant from the Illinois Arts Council Agency, a state agency through federal funds provided by the National Endowment for the Arts. A portion of all ticket sales will be donated to the Scoliosis Program at Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago, IL.
