Event Description

We join forces to celebrate International Peace Week with Dancing the New Peace Story, an evening of original choreography, contemporary dance and meditation on Saturday, September 28, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. at The Peace School, 3121 N Lincoln Ave, Chicago, IL 60657.  The event is a unique collaboration between Peace Centers International, Inc., The Peace School, and ChoreoSpace.

Dancing the New Peace Story features dancers from Oak Park-based ChoreoSpace, an inclusive creative collective involving young people ages 10-18, adults, and persons of different abilities recruited from the community. “Dance is a powerful way to shape our understanding of current events in a positive, empowering light.” says Diane VanDerhei, President, ChoreoSpace. “We are so grateful for this opportunity to participate in a way that mobilizes change.”

Master Charles Kim, President, The Peace School says, “There are so many creative ways to give expression to the energy of peace. I’m delighted that persons of different ages and abilities have come together to create and perform Dancing the New Peace Story.”

"The event is a cross-pollinating experience where the peace movement and dance community will uplift and benefit each other by collaborating. We can think of no better place to launch this initiative than at Chicago's Peace School." says Margo Ruark, Peace Centers International, Inc., producer of the event.

Tickets will be on sale at the door for $10. For more information visit the event sponsors:
