Event Description

RE|dance group self produces its first season post pandemic in the White Box at Links Hall in Chicago, IL. They return to the stage with 4 new works.

Artistic Director Michael Estanich’s On The Edge Of The Fault Line examines the precarious connection between past and future, memory and imagination, and reality and possibility. This work furthers Estanich's fascination with place, how we construct a sense of home, and metaphysical possibilities of relying on, defining, and choosing our present. The ensemble of seven dancers move in luminously colorful costumes among a whimsical set design created by Grace Boely. Estanich continues his exploration of the intersection of text, movement, and environmental installation in this tender work of intimate gesture, sweeping movement, and original poetry.

Tiny Memories is a dance theatre work that explores storytelling through movement imagery. RE|dance group weaves movement phrases and their memories into a text driven piece for the full ensemble. Tiny Memories is the result of a week long workshop with Leah Urzendowski, a celebrated physical theatre artist based in Chicago. Urzendowski is a founding member of The Ruffians, and an ensemble member with the Chicago Neo-futurists since 2011.

This concert is supported by grants from the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation, the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency, and many generous individuals.
