Hedwig Dances' Summer Intensive, offers professional and advanced dancers the opportunity to develop and hone partnering and floor work skills that are the hallmark of Hedwig's aesthetic. This year participants will also immerse themselves in the tenets of modernism as it applies to dance, developing playful thinking, experimentation and abstraction to work beyond literal representation to express internal reality.
Let by Artistic Director Jan Bartoszek and Artistic Associate Maray Gutierrez, Hedwig Dances engages dancers in physically rigorous methods that are built on foundational weight-sharing techniques. The movement development portion will include work with objects and explore how objects can shape metaphor and transform a visual and kinetic landscape. The company's creative process challenges participants to interact and connect not only physically, but also conceptually in unique, compelling ways - all within a supportive environment.
