Hedwig Dances offers a unique blend of rigorous training, cultural styles, and artistic craftsmanship in its 2014 Summer Intensive. This immersive week is designed for advanced and pre-professional dancers with a curriculum drawing influences from contemporary, modern, ballet, and Afro-Cuban technique. Led by Artistic Director Jan Bartoszek and Hedwig Dances company members, this summer intensive is sure to challenge and excite any dancer who wishes to expand in their art form.

What is special about the Hedwig Dance Intensive?

  •  The intimate setting provides dancers with a unique personal relationship with each of the Intensive teachers.
  • Hone improvisational skills in a safe environment and learn to dance as an ensemble in company repertoire
  • Options for any dancer’s schedule. Sign up for the full week, a day, or a single class. 

 

Daily classes include

-Modern Technique    introduces dancers to an exciting, rarely seen form of contemporary dance that fuses American dance techniques with Afro-Cuban dances and rhythms

-Body Contact   in which two individual dancers work together  so that the energy between the two flows in one direction

-Hedwig Dances Repertoire      learn current company dances working with the performers and the Artistic Director

-Afro-Cuban Dance   traditional folkloric dances of Cuba

 

Each day also features a Brownbag Lunch Series with Acclaimed Artists where dancers are provided an intimate look at the world of dance, dance writing, dance-making, dance in other cultures, and many other avenues in the art.
