Event Description

Heidi Latsky is "a choreographer and dancer of uncommon intelligence and fluidity" –  New York Times

"[The work] beautifully resets preconceptions about bodies and movement." –  The New Yorker

Heidi Latsky, a former dancer with Bill T. Jones, is acclaimed for her work with mixed ability dancers. Along with her company, Latsky presents two powerful and energetic dance works at The Dance Center. The first work, Solo Countersolo, features Latsky as the counterpoint to the ensemble, weaving through a landscape of vigorously moving bodies to British composer Chris Brierley’s passionate score, commissioned for the piece. The second, Somewhere is set to several wildly eclectic renditions of “Over the Rainbow,” using this iconic song to frame a series of intimate movement portraits that highlight a diverse unconventional cast. The two pieces push beyond the limits of physicality and movement, embracing the diversity of dancers with “unexpected bodies.”
