RE|Dance Group Artistic Director Michael Estanich continues to explore his interest in how love (its desires and its pain) influences the human experience in his new dance-theatre piece, It’s About Love Again This Year.
The work ponders how and where love surges in our lives. Estanich creates a romantic romp of luscious dancing, tender moments, and soulful performances to capture the sweet, delicate newness of first love and the nostalgic memory of love since passed. RE|Dance Group’s dynamic ensemble of nine dancers seamlessly weave together a series of vignettes that navigate the tricky, intersecting terrain of emotion, memory, desire, and joy. It’s About Love Again This Year is an expression of the nuances and textures of love.
RE|Dance Group welcomes Evolving Doors Dance from Denver, CO for its Chicago premiere with Relative Weight & Tiny Surrenders. Artistic Director Angie Simmons examines how the many manifestations of struggle present within us and in the world shape one’s identity. Relative Weight and Tiny Surrenders explores internal conflict on the smallest scale to odds set against each other on the global front. The victory may not be important but the way we meet the challenge exposes how truly human we are.
