Liveness / Aliveness with Jane Jerardi

Event Type
Workshop
Event Description

In this moment, one of the most restorative places to start – as a performer, a citizen, and a human – is through presence with and to ourselves. How do we cultivate “aliveness” – to be present to the current moment? And how can we translate this to performance, and performance specifically to (and for) the screen.

This workshop will investigate breath, movement, and free writing as the starting point for “live” interactions online. How we develop a sense of embodiment in our “zoom” world? How do we listen inside and outside? How do we play to the screen and how do we ignore it as we dance and move? We will practice solo and improvise with one another on the screen. We will attempt to come closer to one another by coming closer to ourselves. We will think about framing and our relationship to being seen. How can we connect with one another across and with – and in spite of – divides?

Participation is limited to 25 people.
