Event Description

Jacqueline Sinclair is Artistic Director of the Joel Hall Dancers & Center. With more than thirty years of embodying Mr. Hall’s distinctive Urban Jazz style, including features in many world premiere works, Ms. Sinclair leads the Chicago institution with honors including the competitive Artist Grant from the Logan Foundation. Her class environment will be rigorous and keep the dancers curious.

Joel Hall's Breathing Jazz Floor Barre is a codified technique that focuses on strength, flexibility, and longevity so that you can feel and perform your best, not just for a few years—but for life. This Jazz Floor Barre will put to practice how breathwork dials you into your core and initiates movement. Explore proper spine and pelvic alignment in various positions, and investigate how gravity changes the muscle groups we utilize with the help of your certified teaching artist. Jacqueline Sinclair has been studying and teaching this technique for thirty years and has codified the technique making it accessible to dancers of all ages and levels. This class will conclude with werqing and walking it off.

Ms. Sinclair’s work appeared in HCCDF 2014 and 2021.
