Modern Technique with Jenny Showalter uses the Laban and Bartenieff language to guide students through high-energy phrasework.  With a focus on clarity of initiation, the class investigates qualities of gestural subtleties amongst explosive, full-bodied vigorous movement.

Level:  intermediate, advanced, professional dancers

 

JENNY SHOWALTER is a choreographer, dancer and Co-Artistic Director of Treeline Dance Works. Her work has recently been presented in Sweden, France, New York, Illinois, California, Ohio, Michigan and Oklahoma among others. Recent guest residencies include: Cobequid Dance Academy Nova Scotia, Winnipeg School of Contemporary Dancers, Western Illinois University, Hathaway Brown School, Cranbrook School, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Grand Valley State, University of Buffalo, and University of Southern Mississippi. She has served on faculty at Ball State University, St. John Fisher, The College at Brockport, Arizona State University, Grand Canyon University, Glendale Community College, Scottsdale Community College and Northern Illinois University. Showalter is a certified personal trainer, Pilates Instructor, Health Coach and Registered Somatic Movement Therapist. She currently is a Fitness Specialist at Good Samaritan Hospital. Showalter holds an MFA in Dance from The College at Brockport and continues to dance on a project basis with the Bill Evans Dance Company.
