Event Description

The Ruth Page Center for the Arts is proud to present its annual live production of “Ruth Page’s The Nutcracker.” Chicago’s longest running “Nutcracker” is performed in-person at Northeastern Illinois University, 3701 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., as part of the Ruth Page Dance Series, Saturday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 4 at 1 and 5 p.m. and at the College of Lake County’s (CLC) James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts, 19351 W. Washington St. in Grayslake, Saturday, Dec. 17 at 1 and 5 p.m.

Originally presented at the Arie Crown Theater from 1965 to 1997, the current production recreates Ruth Page’s annual presentation of the beloved holiday classic, “The Nutcracker,” original full-length staging. Featuring a cast of international guest artists alongside an elite company, stunning costumes and magical settings in the Land of Snow and the Kingdom of Sweets, these performances promise world-class entertainment and holiday joy for children of all ages. The 2022 production of “Ruth Page’s The Nutcracker” also features the talented students of the Ruth Page School of Dance, as young as 7 years old, in keeping with Ruth Page’s emphasis on children’s involvement in the production.

Tickets for the NEIU performances are $40 for general admission, $25 for seniors, students and children under the age of 12 years, $10 for NEIU faculty and staff (one ticket per I.D), and $5 for NEIU students (one ticket per I.D). Tickets may be purchased starting October 1 at neiu.edu/tickets.
