THAWEN presented by PARA.MAR Dance Theatre

Like the first feeling of warmth after months of cold, THAWEN (meaning defrost) will provide audiences with a glimpse of one the many things we’ve been living without - the joy of gathering to experience live art.
Within the vast gallery space at Rockwell on the River, the audience will be free to roam and experience exclusive world-premieres by Jennifer Archibald, Stephanie Martinez, and Lucas Crandall from a perspective of their choosing.
Each performance offer a unique viewing experience. The early afternoon performance will be lit by the sun through Rockwell’s skylights and floor to ceiling windows. During the evening performance, the dancers transition from natural light to the impeccable design of Chicago-based lighting duo Strong Fox. The after hours performance will be the first time audiences will experience PARA.MAR 's work solely supported by theatrical lighting.
Accompanying each of the performances, PARA.MAR invites you to stay and have a celebratory drink with us on the riverside patio.

Rockwell on the River is an ever-evolving, wholly-unique space to meet, taste, and celebrate whose grounds include industrial-scale craft coffee roastery, distillery, and breweries, riverfront marina, boat docks, and event spaces.
Community Class
PARA.MAR has partnered with beloved Chicago staple Ensemble Español to offer a pay-what-you-can all-age/all-ability community class at 11am prior to the first performance on Saturday and Sunday. The class will take place outdoors on the riverside patio at Rockwell on the River.
Schedule
Due to COVID-19 regulations, there will be 50 guaranteed available spots per community class and 50 guaranteed available spots per performance. Capacity is subject to change based on Be Safe Chicago’s Performance guidelines and restrictions.
