POSITION DESCRIPTION The Associate Director, Individual Giving is an integral part of CHF’s development team and is responsible for securing philanthropic support from individuals at the $3,000 level and above. A creative and strategic fundraiser, they will devise and execute organized plans to qualify, cultivate, steward and solicit donors. Designs and implements innovative, strategic programs to identify prospective major gift donors. Oversees the tracking and management of an emerging prospect pool. Collaborates with the development and programming teams, CHF Board and senior staff, to develop philanthropic and fundraising strategies to strengthen existing relationships and expand CHF’s donor base. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Planning and Execution

  • Creates and leads a coordinated program of fundraising activities designed to increase the number and level of donors at the $3,000 level and above

  • Develops and executes strategies to identify, cultivate, steward and personally solicit new and existing major individual donors

  • Designs and implements all aspects of Charter Humanist Society program ($3,000+), including marketing and communication materials and strategies, cultivation events, stewardship and upgrade plans 

 

Organization and Collaboration

  • Leads efforts alongside Managing Director and CHF leadership to identify opportunities to engage organization in successful philanthropic efforts with key individual donors

  •  With the Associate Director, Membership and Special Events, identify members and lower-level donors with greater capacity and create strategies for cultivation and solicitation

  • Works closely with box office team to ensure top notch engagement and customer service for key donors and develops and successfully executes plans for delivery of tickets and other items

 

Gifts and Prospects

  • Provides leadership, determines and evaluates individual goals, annual major gift revenue budget and research strategies for new and existing donors

  • Identifies and personally solicits major gifts by creating and managing a robust portfolio of prospective donors at this level and above

  • Responsible for portfolio management and achieving measurable targets for each fiscal year associated with the qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospects and donors to achieve budgeted revenue goals

  • Responsible for the engagement of existing and prospect donors  through special events, and other initiatives key to major gift fundraising 

Administration

  • Maintains prospect research lists and leads individual research strategies

  • Work with marketing and development teams to develop solicitation materials

  • Other duties as assigned by the Managing Director, Development

     

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • 5-7 years’ increasing development experience with a deep focus on major gifts and personal solicitation

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to maintain a high level of poise and professionalism in all circumstances

  • Ability to initiate and build relationships with prospective donors

  • Demonstrated ability to take primary responsibility for diverse number of projects and to complete them in a timely manner with limited supervision 

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting

  • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or Tessitura

  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed
