Visceral Dance Center seeks a dynamic part-time piano accompanist to play for the Tuesday Intermediate ballet class (5-6:30 pm) and substitute for other classes as needed. The ideal candidate will be a specialist in the field and have experience in accompanying ballet classes. Diverse repertoire and ability to modulate tempo is required.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• In collaboration with the teacher, provide piano accompaniment that enhances and supports the rhythmic and qualitative characteristics of class material
• Play a variety of musical styles, improvising and/or sight reading (sheet music not provided)
• Be punctual and reliable to attend scheduled classes, flexible to substitute as needed
• At least one year of experience accompanying a ballet class in a professional setting preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and classroom management skills
• Ability to take direction well
