About the Curators-In-Residence program:

Links Hall’s Curators-In-Residence program is an opportunity for independent, self-producing performers, curators, producers, and artists to present work for their communities, by their communities. Three individuals will be granted a budget by Links Hall to work with a venue or organization in their Chicago neighborhood to invite performing artists from their communities to present new or existing work. These same artists will also be presented at Links Hall. Curators-in-residence also have the option to organize community events to engage and collaborate with their neighbors in a more hands-on way.

Project Manager role description:

We are in search of a Project Manager who will join the three curatorial residents in bringing their shows to fruition. The project manager’s duties and responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating the selection process for prospective curators
  • Organizing and gathering application materials submitted by applicants for the selection committee
  • Draft and negotiate contracts for three curators-in-residence
  • Communicate and manage overall program expectations with curators
  • Collaborate with Links Hall’s Artist Programs Manager to develop and coordinate event schedules + logistics
  • Collaborate with Links Hall’s Production Manager to develop and coordinate production schedules
  • Includes hiring and scheduling technicians and front-of-house staff
  • Collaborate with Links Hall’s Marketing + Development Manager to develop and coordinate press releases and marketing for each curator
  • Includes community outreach, audience development with curators, and box office management
  • Assist curators to establish and confirm events/productions at off-site organizations/venues
  • Manage budget, monitor expenses, coordinate artist payments and reimbursements for each residency
  • Manage events related to curatorial residencies (each curator-in-residence will present: 2 performances at Links Hall, plus up to 2 public events at community sites)
  • Attend regular meetings with Links Hall staff to coordinate all of the above

Curatorial Residency Timeline:

Oct 20, 2022 — Open call for Project Manager position
Nov 11, 2022 — Open call for Curator applications
Dec 16, 2022 — Application closes
Dec 19-22, 2022 — Project Manager gathers materials for selection committee
Jan 3-27, 2023 — Selection Committee reviews application materials
Jan 28, 2023 — Selection committee meets to discuss and select curators
Feb 6, 2023 — Applicants are notified of the decision
Feb 13, 2023 — Residency begins
Apr – May, 2023 — Curators present at community sites, schedule TBD
Apr 21-23, 2023 — Curators present at Links*
May 5-7, 2023 — Curators present at Links*
May 19-21, 2023 — Curators present at Links*

Project Manager Salary:

The fee for this project is $4,200, to be paid in monthly installments from Dec 2022-May 2023. The Project Manager will be paid as a 1099 independent contractor.
