Position Title: Development Coordinator

Reports to Executive Director

 

Chicago Dance Crash is looking for a part-time Development Coordinator to execute the Organization’s annual fundraising plan and grant schedule.  It is an independent contractor position with largely no set hours or workplaces; only goals and deadlines to meet at the employer’s discretion. The position pays $1,000 – $1,200 a month based on experience with an expense budget for
equipment and training/education. Average workload estimated at 10-12 hours a week.

Job Summary:

In collaboration with the Executive Director, the Development Coordinator will be responsible for managing fundraising activities including but not limited to individual giving, corporate/foundation relations, government grants and special events. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across the organization to engage boards, committee members, volunteers, executive leadership and management to identify opportunities for philanthropic support and sponsorship.

General Responsibilities:

1) Charitable Strategy & Implementation:

Leads the Company’s fundraising effectiveness both within annual plans as well as towards long-term strategies including but limited to individual giving, corporate & foundation relations, government grants and special events.

Finds, solicits and secures funding for all of the above as well as develops new strategies towards growth & sustainability.

Manages the finding, solicitation and securing of in-kind contributors as needed.

Maintains a working knowledge of significant developments & trends within the field of charitable fundraising.

2) Financial Performance:

Works with Executive Director towards creation of & compliance with applicable budgets.

Creates and executes contributed income generators including but not limited to grant applications, corporate sponsorship solicitations, special events, annual appeals and project-oriented fundraisers.

3) Communication:

Provides leadership to subsequent persons including event volunteers, in-kind donors and the like.

Acts as “front line” (first & primary point of contact) for funders including online follow-ups, onsite visits, donor receipts, acceptance notifications, final and mid-cycle reports, etc…

Provides internal reports/documents to Executive Director as requested.

Leads the Company’s relationships between donors/providers and Organization as a whole.

Maintains an adequate database of Funders accessible by Executive Director.

 

Required Job Qualifications:

•Hands on experience with nonprofit fundraising; preferably in the arts and particularly with diverse groups and communities

•Strong interpersonal and writing skills including excellent presentation, writing, editing and proofreading skills

•Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies including volunteers, program participants, individual and major donors

•Advanced computer skills including use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and desktop publishing software

•Self-motivated and detail-oriented

•Must have ability to prioritize multiple assignments

•Working knowledge/experience in the local dance community is a strong plus
