The Director of Education and Creative Engagement is ultimately
responsible for the management and supervision of all education and
community engagement programming and staff. The Director of Education
and Creative Engagement creates and facilitates educational curriculum,
programming, and materials for all ages, in alignment with the presented
performance season of the Auditorium Theatre and state and national
arts standards. The person in this position is responsible for ensuring
the successful facilitation of this programming in the theatre itself,
in Chicago Public Schools, and at various community sites around the
Chicagoland area.

The Director of Education and Creative Engagement is also responsible
for the creation and facilitation of training and professional
development, and preparing the hired artists and partner educators to
facilitate all programming in line with the mission and expectations of
the Auditorium Theatre.

Ideal candidates must possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum 5-7 years prior experience in arts education or education field.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to create arts based curriculum and corresponding assessment tools.
  • Understanding of the Illinois Standards for the Arts and current education policy in Illinois.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
