Position Summary:
The Manager of Institutional Giving reports to the Chief Development Officer and is responsible for working with the Chief Development Officer and Director of Development to cultivate relationships and raise funds from grants from corporate, foundation, and government sources. The Manager of Institutional Giving is responsible for all grant activities, including solicitations and/or grant proposal submissions and wrap-up reports. Also, the Manager of Institutional Giving coordinates prospect research for grant opportunities from corporations, foundations, and government sources. The Manager of Institutional Giving will also contribute to the creation of appeals and donor correspondence and collateral materials for the Development Department.

Major Areas of Responsibilities:
-Prepare grant proposals, solicitations, letters of intent, invoices, and reports in accordance with funder and Auditorium Theatre standards.
-Creatively search to find new corporate, foundation, and government grant prospects to support the Auditorium Theatre activities and programs.
-With the Chief Development Officer and Director of Development, develop personal relationships with decision-makers in corporate, foundation, and government giving programs.
-Manage institutional donor cultivation and stewardship activities to include:
-In-person meetings with current and prospective funders
-Produce personalized and general communications to current and prospective institutional funders to keep them                          well informed about the Auditorium through newsletters, social media, Eblasts, and printed collateral
-Maintain accurate contact information for all institutional donors and prospects including all giving history, solicitations, visits, etc. in Tessitura.
-Create and manage the grants calendar with letters of intent and application deadlines, payment schedules, and wrap-up reports.
-Maintain the collection of up-to-date materials to be submitted with applications to include budgets, audits, staff and board lists, collateral materials, etc.
-Keeps staff informed of current funding opportunities and work with them to find funding for special programs.
-Assist in the preparation of all written donor appeals, development newsletters, donor spotlights, acknowledgement letters and other written development department communications as required and directed by the Chief Development Officer and Director of Development.
Knowledge/skills/abilities:
-A minimum of four years prior development experience, preferably including a combination of prospect research, grant writing, and securing significant gifts from multiple funders.
-Excellent oral and written communications skills
-Accuracy and attention to detail
-Ability to manage deadlines and multiple projects at a time
-Strong budgeting skills
-Knowledge of Tessitura or other donor database systems
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office
-A knowledge of Chicago’s philanthropic landscape is a plus

Salary Range:
$55K-$65K
