Overview

Since 1989, the Chicago Festival Ballet (CFB) and School, under the artistic leadership of internationally-renowned choreographer Kenneth von Heidecke, have provided classical training and performance opportunities to many talented dancers in the Chicagoland area. With a curriculum underscoring the exactness, athleticism and discipline of ballet, CFB has helped launch the careers of many dance professionals.

As a professional touring company, CFB has performed in hundreds of venues around the United States, receiving accolades for its commitment to technical excellence. Annual traditions include the company's critically acclaimed productions of Tchaikovsky's ''The Nutcracker'' and Prokofiev's ''Cinderella''.

The legendary Maria Tallchief, universally known as America's Prima Ballerina, serves as artistic advisor to von Heidecke and Chicago Festival Ballet. She is considered one of the greatest American ballerinas and is one of only six dancers in the history of ballet to achieve the title of Prima Ballerina Assoluta. Ms. Tallchief calls von Heidecke her protege.
