Winifred Haun & Dancers announces 2021 programming

Building on last fall's live and digital events, Winifred Haun & Dancers announced new programming Friday, beginning March 5 with "Press On, Regardless." The dance film, presented on Facebook Live and filmed by Sean Rafferty, explores Links Hall's lesser known spaces.

The Oak Park-based modern dance company then returns to Unity Temple for a reboot of "Light in Winter" on April 17. As with "Press On," the live-streamed performance makes the most of  having no audience, escorting us digitally through the balconies and hidden bits of this historic Frank Lloyd Wright gem.

May 16-21, Haun & Dancers team up with Banks Performance Project for "Brave Enough" in the beautiful gardens at Oak Park's Cheney Mansion. The outdoor performance is similar, in some ways, to October's "Steps in the Garden," though Haun will create only one of four new dances. Banks Performance Project director Elysia Banks and Irene Hsiao are also slated to choreograph, with the fourth to be announced.

On June 5, the company will repeat "Light in Winter," this time in a hybrid format with original partners from the Chicago Modern Orchestra Project playing live. Streamed and (hopefully) in-person options will be available.
