Phaedra Darwish is a Chicago-based performer and educator whose background in music and global dance traditions led her to Arabic dance as a powerful way to share the culture of her heritage. For more than 14 years, she has taught, performed, and produced workshops and events across the U.S., blending musicianship, movement, and community engagement. Through raqs sharqi, Phaedra explores the music, regions, and cultural context behind the movement, aiming to foster cultural appreciation, understanding, and connection.

For this 90-minute intro class, Phaedra will teach raqs sharqi foundational techniques from the ground up. No experience is necessary!
