See Chicago Dance is the most comprehensive source for Chicago-area dance performances and events throughout the year. Launched in 2005, the website drives ticket sales for dance in Chicago through a dynamic events calendar, feature stories and reviews, discount ticket offers, and in-depth information on more than 200 dance companies and organizations around the city. Our Hot Deal and Featured Highlight emails reach thousands of proven dance patrons, serving to engage audiences and grow the dance sector. Originally born from a multi-year market research study on how to build dance audiences, SeeChicagoDance.com quickly proved to be a valuable asset for patrons and artists alike. It was clear that this resource needed to continue beyond the duration of the study. So in 2006 a supporting service organization was created to ensure that vital audience development services would continue for the Chicago dance field.

HISTORY OF SEE CHICAGO DANCE

See Chicago Dance is a service organization with the mission to build and engage dance audiences in our city and advocate for our dance sector. Our two-pronged approach focuses on building audiences while developing a more impactful dance community. Originally founded as Audience Architects in 2006, the organization gained its 501c3 status in 2008, ensuring its longevity and efficacy.

In the Spring of 2018, Audience Architects became known as See Chicago Dance to streamline and strengthen our position across all consumers. The unifying of our organizational identity was accompanied by a refreshed and expanded website catering to both artists and patrons. As stated in our mission, “We advocate for the dance field and strengthen a diverse range of dance organizations and artists through services and programs that build and engage audiences.” While our flagship program SeeChicagoDance.com focuses on audience development, the namesake organization advocates for and nurtures dance artists and companies on all levels.

See Chicago Dance exists as a megaphone for dance in Chicago. We provide resident dance companies with increased visibility, expansive resources, and forums to showcase and share their talents. We host professional development workshops for artists, convene the dance industry for quarterly networking and shared learning opportunities, and host numerous events, artists discussions, and showings to engage and inform the public about Chicago’s vibrant and diverse dance scene. We see dance transform and change lives, expand horizons, and impart change. Countless artists are doing amazing things through dance here in Chicago, and See Chicago Dance exists to empower them—and share them with you.
