The Seldoms' fall show is a gorgeous lil' package of three premieres by three gifted choreographic voices—Damon D. Green, Deandra Alaba, and guest artist, Tina Diaz. Each one is a personal, distinctive statement performed with nuance and rapture by TS ensemble.

Join us as we enter our third decade of dance with this program of new voices!

Beneath My Mother Tree by guest artist, Tina Diaz, explores ancestral identity, employing the metaphor of a massive tree with roots dug deeply into the earth. Diaz says, “The further we go into our past, the more we’re able to discover about ourselves in the present.” Performed by the full ensemble.

In Common Senses, choreographer Deandra Alaba asks: “What does it mean to rest and how are our senses integrated in the moment?” The duet was built with dancers Haley Marcin and Maggie Vannucci, who explored their individual experiences of comfort, relief and pleasure and interlaced them with the different senses: sight, hear, smell, taste, touch, and proprioception.

Chameleon Degradation is created by Associate Director Damon D. Green. He describes this new project as “a reflection on the experience of ‘code-switching’, where one simultaneously makes accommodations and tries to create an acceptable situation for yourself and the environment you're in…even as you’re vulnerable to biases.” Featuring Charles Pierson and Gabriela Chavez.
