Hedwig Dances is seeking seasoned dancers with strong partnering skills, contemporary technique and multi-year professional performance experience for our upcoming contract, with the possibility of expansion. Hedwig Dances is known for its experimental, process-driven approach to dancemaking using objects, props, and theatrical elements; interested dancers must be able to work in and contribute to this highly creative and collaborative rehearsal environment. Hedwig Dances is looking to hire one male-identifying and one female- identifying artist.
AUDITION DETAILS
When: Thursday, October 22, 2026 from 12:00 – 4:00 PM
Where: Ruth Page Center for the Arts (1016 N. Dearborn), Studio 4
What to Bring: a printed copy of your resume with your headshot stapled to the back and knee pads (if you have them),
Dancers are asked to arrive at noon for check-in. The audition will start promptly at 12:45 PM with a class guided by company member, Kelly Kosiek. Following class, we will dive into partnerwork, work with objects, and company repertoire. Cuts will be made throughout this process.
Dancers are invited (highly encouraged, not required) to attend open company class on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 from 10:00-11:15 AM at Ruth Page. Register here!
SEASON INFORMATION
Hedwig Dances is moving with momentum into its 42nd Season. This season we are bringing in two renowned guest artists to create original, multi-disciplinary work on the company. Artistic Director, Jan Bartosek, will also be creating work, with the possibility of the project expanding into a two-year process; involving community engagement, video, projection, and costume development, and additional performance opportunities.
Dancers must be available for the following rehearsal times and performance dates:
- Weekly Rehearsals: Mondays 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Wednesdays 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and Thursdays 12:30-4:00 PM starting as early as November 30, 2026 until the performance listed below. Dancers may occasionally be called for additional rehearsal hours based on seasonal performance schedule.
- Performance: April 2-4, 2027, with daytime tech and dress rehearsals March 29 to April 1
