Program Information
HER is a dance work retelling the intimate story of choreographer Faith von Atzigen and her battle with anorexia. The peice uses theatrical elements to display both the gradual subconscious decline of one’s mental health and the intense struggle for recovery. Following the common narrative of many who have struggled with anorexia, HER is a very authentic and vulnerable dramatizatipon that could provoke a visceral reaction from audiences with eating disorder history. Overall, the hope of this piece is to empathize with those who have struggled with negative body image, disordered eating, and societal pressures, and to offer them encouragement and restoration. This event promises to be a captivating and mesmerizing experience, showcasing an intriguing choreographic narrative and the beauty of Chicago dance artists.
