presents
Multi-disciplinary
Performance
"Here & There" is a multi media dance work celebrating our local
Chicago community here, communities and choreographers scattered across
our nation out there, and the life bustling within the tremendous places
we call home. The Monocle Eclectic Dance Company's fifth production-
"Here & There," showcases seven different choreographer's world
premier works. Hailing from the North, South, East, and West the
choreographers create this two-act work that fills the audience-goers
palate with multiple genres of dance and music. Take the exciting
journey through contemporary dance, hip hop, R&B/Soul, Burlesque
dance, jazz and more- September 17-20th at Links Hall!
Kathryn Burrows, founder and Artistic Director of The Monocle Eclectic
Dance Company, believes her first dance teacher had it right- Katie was
born to dance. Her movement studies began at age 2, always the
performer; however, while at Illinois State University the choreographer
was born. She earned her degree with Honors in Dance Performance from
ISU. Her passion brought her to Chicago in 2007, where she's performed
for Matter Dance Company, Innervation Dance Cooperative, Eddie Ocampo,
Core Project Chicago, and TheMASSIVE in their 2011 production, "But What
About Asian Dudes?" and their 2012 production, Macbeth. Her
choreography has spanned over the Midwest with multiple theatre groups,
dance companies, and festivals, including Dance Chicago and the
Milwaukee Arts Festival. “Here & There,” fiscally sponsored through
Links Hall, marks The Monocle Eclectic Dance Company’s fifth season. In
this work, seven choreographers from all over the U.S.A. unite to create
a unique and exciting multimedia dance experience.
