This session of the Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago’s What Is Contemporary? Symposium explores contemporary modes of embodied research. Timothy Tsang’s participatory approach invites movers of all backgrounds to explore waves, circles, and spirals as both technical pathways and cultural metaphors through his porous, transnational practice shaped by cultural lineage, adaptation, and exchange. Irene Hsiao shares Translated Vase, a project inspired by a process of breaking and building, the necessary destruction of creation, and the continual movement of a diasporic identity.
