Re-imagining the hero as feminist avatar, The Monomyth follows soloist Michelle Boulé through a continuous journey of solitude and transformation, immersed in a soundscape of disco and environmental compositions by Curtis Tamm. Boulé dances toward altered consciousness, evoking a strange temporal focusing of perception through slow motion, repetition and tremulous spiraling movement. The Monomyth is supported by The Morrison-Shearer Foundation and private donations, and was commissioned by The Chocolate Factory with support from the Jerome Foundation.
