Taught by Lane Alexander, the teaching method utilizes deep listening and relaxation as well as “call and respond games” to teach rhythms and steps. Students will learn to listen first, speak second; basic vocabulary and rhythmic patterns; as well as combinations of steps and rhythms. For adults, it is often necessary to focus on relaxation and deep listening to find “the groove.” The class is cumulative over the term of each session and online learning videos accompany the classes. We play to learn – we learn to play. Ages 13 and up. This class is not for absolute beginners.
