Performance
The Dancer's Cooperative's premiere evening-length performance works to demolish existing structures for supporting and funding contemporary dance, and exposes the process of developing a cooperative model. Scratch encourages direct action, drawing on experiences with public protest performances which called attention to Governor Bruce Rauner's budget cuts. It is a physical outlining of a year-long process of experimenting, organizing, and supporting. Under the direction of MaryAnn McGovern, Scratch weaves together a charged movement vocabulary, story-telling, and documentation of street performances.
