See Chicago Dance’s mission is to advocate for the dance field and strengthen a diverse range of dance organizations and artists while building and engaging audiences. As a service organization, we amplify, convene, produce, facilitate, and advocate for our dancing communities. Each year, about 10% of our operating income comes from donations from individuals like you. Donations of $250 or more automatically earn you DanceBuilders status. In 2024, See Chicago Dance needs your support to reach our goal of $30,000 from individual donors.
SCD membership has grown over 400% in the last four years and demand for our programs and services and on our website has never been greater. Your donation helps us help Chicago dance in so many ways. For example:
• $50: SCD member discount for online advertising
• $100: Artist fee for one Chicago Dance Month performer (We paid out $34,000 in 2023!)
• $250: You are a DanceBuilder!
• $500: Partial stipend of a Dance for Camera mentor
• $1,000: Accessibility accommodations (ASL interpretation, CART captioning,
audio description) at one live SCD event
• $2,500: Additional features on the new SCD website
• $5,000: SeeChicagoDance.com's journalism program
• $7,500: Health insurance for two full-time SCD employees
• $10,000: Waives membership dues for existing and new SCD Members
(Membership fees have been waived since 2020 thanks to the generosity of Grand Stage)
This year, we are raising additional funds to support the development of a new, future-facing, scalable website, which we’ll launch in early 2025, the 20th anniversary of SeeChicagoDance.com.
• The website is our flagship program and among the largest nonprofit dance industry
websites in the U.S.
• It is the most comprehensive service we offer to our community members and
dance audiences.
• To finish the job, we are conducting a modest capital campaign to raise the funds needed
to complete the site in time for the 20th anniversary next year. As of May 1, 2024, we
have already raised $22,500. We have $77,500 to go.
