Event Description

We're excited to host two FREE virtual events that will honor our two awardees, Joel Hall and Gail Kalver. Join us for a some-what deconstructed gala--drinks and storytelling on the 6th, honoring awardees and expressing gratitude to our community on the 27th:

Our free Happy Hour on October 6 will be a way for the two awardees to share some amazing stories of the many years of service to the Chicago dance sector (and bring your stories too). Be on the look-out for a recipe for our signature mocktail/cocktail as well as an annoucment about an exciting matching grand during this virtual event!

Our free virtual Finale Celebration on October 27 features an awards presentation to two luminaries of the Chicago dance community: the Legacy Award to Joel Hall and the Distinguished Service to the Dance Filed Award to Gail Kalver.

Attendees will receive an email 24 hours before the event with the Zoom meeting ID and password. You may register for one or both events listed above. Please follow the links to the corresponding dates above.

See Chicago Dance (SCD), the dance industry's nonprofit marketing and advocacy organization, reimagines its sixth annual dance Community Celebration with a six-week video series and awards celebration. The event celebrates Chicago's thriving, resilient dance community and honors two individuals who have been critical to its success. Joel Hall, Founding Artistic Director of Joel Hall Dancers & Center, will receive the Legacy Award recognizing his artistic leadership. Gail Kalver, former Executive Director of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and River North Dance Chicago, will receive the Distinguished Service to the Dance Field Award in recognition of her leadership in the arts.
