Event Description

In celebration of Earth’s shortest day in the Northern Hemisphere, Links Hall welcomes the 29th Annual Winter Solstice Percussion Concert by hosting three consecutive sunrise shows. Performed and curated by Michael Zerang and Hamid Drake, this hour-long ritual performance utilizes a wide array of percussion instruments from North Africa, the Middle East, and East India, as well as Western orchestral instruments. In addition to these three Links performances at dawn, Zerang and Drake will be presenting two 8pm shows at Constellation. Drake and Zerang are veterans of Chicago world music, new music, and jazz scenes, and have performed together both nationally and internationally.
