Red Clay Dance will present their Dance4Peace 2014 concert, in support of their Community Engagement, Education & Partnerships program. This magnificent event filled with show stopping youth performances will take place at the Gary Comer Youth Center, located at 7200 S. Ingleside at 5:30pm and will be hosted by Chicago’s own comedian and radio personality Leon Rogers. An inaugural presentation of three “Community Hug” Awards will be given to Nate and Cleopatra Pendleton, Ebony Ambrose, and the Green Teens program from the Gary Comer Youth Center during the program. This award honors those in the community that are committed to impacting the lives of youth in Chicago.
Dance4Peace 2014 will feature performances by the Red Clay Dance Youth Ensemble (Chicago, IL), Visceral Studio Youth Company (Chicago, IL), Praize Productions (Chicago, IL), Iona Calhoun School of Ballet (Chicago, IL), Signature Dance Company (Milwaukee, WI), DancExcel (Gary, IN), and South Shore Dance Alliance (Griffith, IN)
The Community Engagement Education and Partnerships (CEEP) program takes the mission of their performing company from the stage into the classroom and mobilizes their commitment to building community through dance. Using our Afro-Diasporic approach to dance education our CEEP program offers affordable, year-round access to innovative dance experiences for youth ages 3-18 in a safe and supportive environment.
Dance4Peace 2014 is not only a fundraiser for their CEEP program, but it serves as the culminating performance for their school-year program participants. This family-friendly annual concert is a celebration of youth taking ownership of their choices by actively committing their time, talents and energy to creating and presenting dance works that promote peace and positivity!
