Ballet Chicago’s unique DanceVision is a special collaboration between the company and Merit School of Music that brings together some of today’s most exciting young choreographers, musicians and Ballet Chicago students to create a fall dance concert. DanceVision is produced with live music, provided by the talented Merit School of Music musicians, and carries with it the excitement of seeing new, cutting-edge choreography created by developing young talents come to life. The DanceVision initiative is an ideal arena for new works, and the program’s annual fall project invites young and emerging choreographers to participate. Commissioned pieces are encouraged to reflect the human experience through movement, with an emphasis on the music and the artists as the primary inspiration.
This year's program, “Women of Note”, directly focuses on female composers and choreographers, giving breath to the voices of these artists, past and present.
