Early 19th Century Ballet Workshop

Event Type
Event Description

Week 3 is the return of our Early 19th Century Ballet Workshop, taught by master teacher, Randall Newsom from June 20 through 23. Randy’s class last summer was very popular—and very challenging—for levels 8 through 11 (upper intermediate through advanced). Here is a chance to experience the classes that built the strengths required to perform the GREAT Romantic Ballets by Bournonville, St. Leon, Coralli and Perrot—choreographers who demanded fleet feet and great buoyancy. Randy’s classes will include some of the original 19th century exercises and will present this material with the music used during the era. Students will also study repertory with excerpts from Napoli, Pas de Quatre, La Vivandiere and Esmeralda. JP Tenuta will assist Randy during the workshop. There will be a showing on Thursday, June 23 at 4 pm.
