ERIN KILMURRAY + collaborators present the Function

Four Shows - Friday Nights

May 24 + May 31 + June 7 + June 14

@ 3124 W Caroll Avenue.

The Function is an electric, femme-powered, world-building dance performance that asks and imagines what is possible when we are empowered to not only envision, but actually rebuild our environments, atmospheres, futures, and realities.

Amidst a playground of choreography and objects, four virtuosic dancers actively create, operate, and destroy their own utopias. They strategize and troubleshoot through the inevitable happenings of live performance, inviting audiences to witness their dynamic journey forward.

Created through cross-trainings between dancers, production designers, and DJ, the piece is a demonstration of genre-bending DIY stage craft, iterative, athletic movement, and bass-driven, sonic sound by iconic DJ VITIGRRL .

Born from Chicago’s fringe performance scenes, the Function first premiered at the Museum of Contemporary Art (2022).  Now, the work is reshaped for its very first extended run at Land and Sea Dept.’s warehouse space in East Garfield Park.

Seating is limited! Expect an intimate space with big house-party energy.
