Hedwig Extends ONLINE Auditions for Dancers through Sept 14th - IN PERSON AUDITION on Wednesday Sept 15

Looking to Hire for Spring Season and Special Projects

This extension provides the opportunity to any dancer who has not yet auditioned to avail themselves of this final audition date.

Hedwig Dances seeks dancers with a strong background in modern, ballet, partnering techniques, as well as improvisation experience, including a focus on working with objects and props. We plan to hire three dancers for the spring season and will be looking to hire additional project dancers later in the season. Our season includes annual performances in Chicago and potential international touring. Season activities are subject to change due to pandemic. Rehearsals begin in September. Dancers must be available Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for rehearsals as well as all tech rehearsals and scheduled performances.

TO AUDITION we require the following:

Video submission Now – July 27 (see video instructions below)
CV and/or Resume (not to exceed 2 pages)
Your Audition shall contain 3 segments, each segment shall be 2 – 3 minutes in length, for a total of 6-9 minutes

SEGMENT ONE – Introduction 2- 3 minutes
Tell us your name, where you’re from, your educational and performance experience. Help us get to know YOU and how you think about these things.

SEGMENT TWO – Improvised Performance Phrase 2-3 minutes
Create and perform your own dance phrase. We’re interested in seeing how you can incorporate an element of improvisation and personalize the phrase.

SEGMENT THREE – Performance Phrase with an Object 2-3 minutes
Create and perform a different/new phrase with an object (article, piece, device, gadget) of your choice. Any object will do, can range from small to large. Explore your relationship with that object.
