History in Motion: Giordano Dance Chicago

Event Type
Talk/Discussion
Event Description

The Chicago Dance History Project will explore and celebrate Giordano Dance Chicago's 54-year history with a public discussion on the legacy of Gus Giordano, founder of America's orginial jazz company. How is the Giordano technique passed from one generation to the next? How does each role within the company - artistic and administrative - work to carry its history, style, and mission forward?

Jenai Cutcher, Executive Director of the Chicago Dance History Project, will seek to answer these questions and more in a conversation with dancer and choreographer Joshua Blake Carter, Artistic Director Nan Giordano, and Executive Director Michael McStraw. Please join us in this discovery and bring your own questions.

This event is FREE and open to the public.

Then return on Saturday for a performance by the Giordano company and our documentation of YOU, the audience, before the show and at intermission.
